Ampenan is an old city of mataram. Yes, The town is not a major attraction, not as popular as Senggigi beach although located near it. Ampenan has historical story. The city used to serve as one of the economic and trade center. Ampenan was the original old port and was once Lomboks main port. It was built during Dutch colonial times around 1948 to 1950, used as a haven ports. It is said that the port is operated until 1973 before the main port moved to Lembar. It is now the fisherman boat places.
